Edition 28: Congress Season

At a cardiology congress last year, one of the MSLs in our RISE Community was assigned to pull together the post-congress report.
She did what most MSLs do- twenty-plus pages of summaries. Every session in her TA. Every competitor is abstract. Every detail.
And just like every other year, leadership skimmed page 2… and never touched it again.
But this Spring at another national congress, she flipped the script. Instead of drowning leaders in information, she distilled it:
- The 3 competitor signals that mattered
- The Phase 3 readout that could change first-line practice
- The themes she heard echoed across multiple KOL conversations
Two crisp pages. Clear, sharp, actionable.
This time, her report didn’t just sit in a shared folder. It got quoted in senior meetings. It shaped the cross-functional strategy. And it put her on leadership’s radar in a way that twenty pages of “coverage” never could.
→ That’s the lesson: leadership doesn’t want more notes. They want intelligence. And the MSLs who deliver it are the ones who rise fastest.
We just published a new blog on this exact challenge: The 3 Parts of Congress Coverage Every MSL Must Master. Inside, you’ll learn how to:
- Prepare with strategy, not summaries
- Capture intelligence, not information
- Deliver reports that drive action, not paperwork
