Edition 87: Meet Flo, Our New Chief AI Officer

We don't send "big announcement" emails often. This is one of them.
As of today, MSL Mastery haas a Chief AI Officer. His name is Florian Lindstaedt. Everyone calls him Flo, and we brought him on because he thinks about AI in Medical Affairs differently than almost anyone we've talked to.
So who is Flo?
Flo has spent his whole career making complicated work run better. Engineer at Infineon in Germany and Singapore. Finance and analytics leader inside operating companies. Most recently a Managing Director at KPMG, building AI-ready data systems, context engineering, and AI agents for some of the largest companies in the world.
Now he's going to point all of that to Medical Affairs.
Here's what sold us & will you too: Flo refuses to bolt AI onto a mess. Before he automates one thing, he maps it: every step, every handoff, every hour, tied back to the value your team actually delivers. Then he decides where AI does the work, where a human leads, and where a little soft-skills training beats any tool.
The mess he's here to fix first: your congress follow-up
When Sarah was an MSL, here's how she came home from a big congress: Drop the bag in the middle of the floor. Dump everything out. Disappear into a dark room. Come back an hour later, only to complain about how messy the house was.
Somewhere in that bag was the real work. The conversations. The business cards. The "I'll send you that paper" promises. The KOLs who said something worth following up on.
Congress follow-up is where MSLs add the most value. It's also the thing we're too exhausted to do well.
So here's what Flo would ask Sarah. If follow-up is where you create the most value, but you do it tired, rushed, and differently every single time, is it even a value activity? Or did it just technically get done?
Flo's answer: give it a workflow
A workflow is a repeatable path from a start to a finished result. Same steps, same order, every time, so your brain doesn't rebuild the process at 11pm on a Thursday.
Nobody, including AI, is replacing you. You decide the steps once, while you're rested, instead of forty more times while you're running on fumes.
Now we know what you will say: "You can't systematize what we do. Every KOL is different. We need flexibility." You are right.
The uniqueness of Medical Affairs is the whole point. The relationships, the scientific judgment, the read-the-room instinct that makes a great MSL great: a good workflow doesn't touch any of that. It handles everything around it. The remembering. The sequencing. The "did I actually send that paper." The part that eats your evening and has nothing to do with your expertise.
Protect the art. Systematize the admin. That's the Flo philosophy.
Build your own post-congress follow-up agent
To celebrate Flo joining us, we're opening the workshop that walks you through building your own post-congress follow-up agent. One real, start-to-finish example: a system that does the remembering and the first draft, while you stay the human who personalizes it, checks it, and hits send.

Your Mira Prompt of the Week: Find the workflow that's making you crazy
Start with whatever is currently driving you up the wall. Open Mira (or ChatGPT, or Claude) and paste this:
"Act as a workflow coach for a Medical Affairs professional. I want to find one workflow in my week that's making me a little crazy, where AI could make my life easier. Ask me three questions, one at a time, to pinpoint my single biggest roadblock or pain point. Once you've found it, help me design a simple, repeatable workflow to fix it, including where AI should help and where I should stay in control."
Three questions in, you'll have named the thing that's quietly exhausting you. A few minutes later, you'll have a plan. Very Flo of you.
(Quick reminder: keep confidential, proprietary, and patient information out of any public AI tool. When the data is sensitive, use your company's approved, secure system.)
One question for you
Hit reply and tell us: what's the one thing you'd want Flo to fix in Medical Affairs?
He's reading. The best answers might just become our next workflow.
